Our Company History
Founded by Harry Blomberg in 1923, Harry’s on the Hill is the oldest family owned New Car Dealership in Asheville, North Carolina. What started as one of Asheville’s first gasoline filling stations on North Market Street is today a third generation family business.
Recognized in 1937 as the first Cadillac dealership in Western North Carolina, Harry’s expanded by adding the Pontiac franchise 4 years later. In 1950 Harry’s son-in-law, Buddy Patton joined the business and in 1967 the company moved from downtown to the present location on Patton Avenue. In 1991 GMC truck was acquired and the business was renamed “Harry’s Cadillac-Pontiac-GMC” and nicknamed “Harry’s on the Hill”. Today, Patricia Grimes, daughter of Buddy Patton has taken over the family business and has added Buick and Saab to the line-up of New Cars and Trucks.
This year marks the 40th anniversary at the current Patton Avenue location. Harry’s words of “Work hard, treat your customers and employees fairly and always give back to the community” are still heard at Harry’s on the Hill today.
