Engine, Transmission & Fuel Economy
The 2012 incarnation of the SRX gets a new, more powerful engine. A 3.6L Direct-Injection V6 engine, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control, delivers a brawny 308hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, plenty of power to jet around town. The SRX offers a solid ride and plenty of cargo space, in addition to an EPA-estimated 16 city and 23 highway.
Standard Equipment and Options
In addition to the Base model, the SRX comes in three trim levels or "collections"? Luxury, Performance and Premium. Though the Base model is only available in front-wheel drive, an all-wheel drive solution is available on the upgraded collections. Though 20-inch wheels are available, the SRX comes clad with standard 18-inch wheels. Other standard equipment includes heated power side mirrors, Satellite Radio, Bluetooth connectivity and OnStar.
Upgrading to the Luxury collection blesses drivers with a variety of perks like rain-sensing windshield wipers, keyless entry, a power liftgate, an ambient lighting package with auto-dimming mirror, adjustable pedals, rear-view monitor, and heated front seats and steering wheel. Furthermore, the spectacular UltraView sunroof covers 70-percent of the roof with glass. The SRX is, after all, a crossover vehicle, so don't think the engineers forgot about all that luggage and cargo you'll be carting around. | Other goodies include a Bose 5.1 sound system with 10 speakers and a 40GB Hard Drive for storing all your favorite music (Standard on Performance and Premium, optional on the Luxury). The Bose Sound Package also features Navigation and a Voice Recognition System. An optional backseat entertainment system is also available to capture and hold the kids' attention during those long trips. |

Safety Features
The SRX has side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags. Other safety features include, all-disc antilock brakes, electronic stability system and OnStar with automatic crash notification. It should be noted that this service requires a subscription after one year. Adaptive headlights that swivel in direction of turn are an optional safety feature, and will help at night on winding roads. |
